Experience

I am an English, mathematics, and university business/IT course tutor with experience in assisting Cantonese and Mandarin-speaking students in their essay homework for English, science, and humanities studies courses. Other than tutoring English, mathematics, and business writing (includes writings for school and university admission letter and scholarship letter), I help students prepare application essays for challenging EMBA application questions and assignment essays for some university business and business-related IT subjects (e.g. Artificial Intelligence (AI): Implications for Business Strategy program from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and fintech program from The University of Oxford). I studied Oxford's fintech and MIT's AI programs for my student who was under my tutoring for GMAT mathematics and application essay for The Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program (also all the EMBA courses when the program begins). The undertaking of completing the weekly assignments in about 7 hours each myself without first studying the fintech and AI materials was inspiring, a gesture of goodwill to extend my help and save $130,000 tutoring fee (the fee that would incur if I were paid the recommended 200 hours of studying) rather than arrogance in despising the difficulty of the fairly new materials. About learning spoken English using both English and Mandarin (or Cantonese), I am grateful that my students (e.g., a university professor with a Ph.D. and managers from multinational firms) appreciate the bilingual method (no magic indeed) which allows them to improve the speed of responding to questions and their confidence in asking and answering. The educational backgrounds of my adult students are mostly degree qualified. Some examples of their occupations are business lawyer, general manager, logistics manager, professor at The Chinese University of H.K., accountant, and secretary.
